New household heating statistics and a major water-main project in Larne — with context for property owners.

New heating and insulation statistics

Northern Ireland’s 2025/26 household heating and insulation results were published on 24 September 2026. The release covers heating fuels, controls, insulation and heating-oil purchasing behaviour. These are population-level findings: they describe wider trends, rather than the condition of an individual home.

Water-main investment in Larne

NI Water announced a £2.5 million programme on 12 August 2026, involving approximately 17km of new water mains and connections in the Larne area. The announced programme is expected to extend over around two and a half years, with local notices as works progress. Check NI Water’s current updates for timing on your street.

What this means when considering a property

Area-wide infrastructure improvements and national statistics provide useful background. A property inspection answers a different question: what can be observed about accessible systems in that particular home? Before arranging a visit, gather any available servicing records and tell your inspector about known concerns. The inspection scope, access and price should be agreed before booking.
